Arsenal are set to go head-to-head with London rivals West Ham for the signature of Argentina star Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports.

Italian outlet CalcioMercato say the Gunners are prepared to offer Olivier Giroud plus 50 million euros for the Napoli striker.

Meanwhile, it is claimed the Hammers want Higuain to lead their line at the Olympic Stadium and will lodge an astonishing bid of 70 million euros.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is said to be mulling over the proposals and will make a decision on the player's future in the coming days.
