Swansea sign Man United youngster
Swansea have confirmed then signing of Manchester United youngster Tyler Reid for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old full-back has agreed a three-year deal to join Francesco Guidolin’s side after struggling for game time in United’s U21 team last season.
He told the Swans’ website: “I am really looking forward to a fresh challenge and getting started.”
Steve Bruce targeting SIX new players
Hull manager Steve Bruce is targeting SIX new signings.
Wales hero Hal Robson-Kanu and Bordeaux defender Lamine Sane are two of the big names while Tottenham’s Ryan Mason is also being considered.
Speaking about Robson-Kanu, Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail: “He’s someone we’re interested in as well.
“I’ve spoken to his father and his brother and we’ll continue talks over the next few days. I know we have got competition, so let’s see what we can do.”
New deal for Whelan
Glenn Whelan has extended his contract at Stoke City.
The 32-year-old’s new deal will run until 2018.
CEO Tony Scholes said: “Glenn has been one of the mainstays of our side since his arrival and few players can have provided such value for money in the history of the Premier League.
“He remains a key figure in Mark Hughes’ squad and we are delighted he has decided to extend his stay.”
Sissoko's agent doesn't understand price tag
Moussa Sissoko’s agent says he doesn’t understand why Newcastle have raised his price tag to £30m-£35m, writes Chris Waugh of the Evening Chronicle.
Speaking to Foot Mercato, a ‘representative’ of Sissoko - believed to be from agency Mondial Sport, who also act on behalf of fellow Magpies Aleksandar Mitrovic, Henri Saivet and Emmanuel Riviere - is quoted as saying: “We do not understand [the £35m asking price].
“It was agreed that Moussa would stay for one more season with Newcastle to help the team - which he did the best he could.
“It has never been a question that there was a more elevated clause. The club has always said that they would let Moussa leave for between €18m to €25m maximum.
“We hope that Rafa Benitez and the president will be more reasonable about Moussa’s future.”
West Ham eye Bacca
West Ham are reportedly negotiating with AC Milan over the transfer of Colombian striker Carlos Bacca.
The Guardian say the Hammers’ previous offer was rebuffed but they have not given up hope of landing the former Sevilla forward.
Bacca, 29, is believed to be desperate to play European football next season, which Milan cannot offer him.
Liverpool 'not interested in Gotze'
Mario Gotze will not be moving to Anfield this summer.
That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who say the Reds have pulled out of the race to sign the Bayern Munich playmaker.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had been interested in a reunion with Gotze but is now said to be happy with his attacking options following Sadio Mane’s arrival from Southampton.
It will now be left to Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham to battle it out for Gotze’s signature.
Morata not for sale?
Contrary to everything you’ve heard this summer, Spanish newspaper AS have now claimed Alvaro Morata is NOT for sale.
Real madrid exercised their buy-back clause with the intention of selling him on.
But with Arsenal and Chelsea seemingly refusing to pay Real’s huge asking price, the Spanish side may simply keep the striker.
Mourinho puts four big names up for sale
Jose Mourinho will sell four big name Manchester United players this summer as he continues his rebuilding job of the club’s first-team squad.
Juan Mata, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Bastian Schweinsteiger will all be shifted out by the Special One, writes Duncan Castles for the Daily Record.
Popular attacking midfielder Mata was sold to United by the then-Chelsea manager Mourinho in January 2014, and the same fate is set to befall him just two-and-a-half years on.
Mourinho is unconvinced by Mata’s stamina, pace and, crucially, his defensive ability, and the club’s recruitment of right-sided attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan is ominous for Mata, who was mainly deployed on the right wing by Louis van Gaal over the past two seasons.
Rojo was Van Gaal’s headline defensive signing in the Dutchman’s first summer at the club, costing €20m from Sporting Lisbon plus the free loan of former United Player of the Year Nani on heavily subsidised wages.
Burnley dealt blow after bids for midfield duo are rejected
Burnley have suffered a double blow after failing with bids for Derby’s Jeff Hendrick and Brighton’s Dale Stephens.
Derby rejected Burnley’s £3.5million offer for Hendrick and do not want to lose the Republic of Ireland midfielder, who has come through their academy.
Hendrick impressed for Martin O’Neill’s men in their Euro 2016 campaign this summer.
The Clarets were also knocked back by Brighton when they offered £4million for midfielder Stephens.
Bolton-born Stephens has just one year left on his Seagulls deal and is understood to be keen on a return to the North West.
Manchester United step up Reece Oxford interest
Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to sign West Ham wonderkid Reece Oxford.
United boss Jose Mourinho is sending scouts to watch 17-year-old Oxford play for England under-19s against Holland in the European Championship in Germany on Friday.
They are long time admirers of Oxford and have already made strong enquiries about the versatile teenager who has made his reputation as a centre half but has also played in midfield.
Oxford sprung to prominence at the start of last season when he starred for West Ham in their win at Arsenal in the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
United have watched developments and know Oxford has two years left on his current contract at West Ham.
Moussa Sissoko can leave Newcastle... for £30million
Newcastle are demanding a staggering £30million fee for France midfielder Moussa Sissoko.
Arsenal and Liverpool have both looked at Sissoko, who was a surprise success for France at Euro 2016.
Sissoko has made it clear that he wants to leave St James’s Park this summer after Newcastle were relegated from the Premier League.
Newcastle have been demanding £25million to £30million but his impressive Euros has only succeeded in pushing his price up.
Sunderland eye Simpson
Danny Simpson is a shock £4million target for Sunderland.
Leicester full-back Simpson, 29, won the Premier League title last season but has one year left on his contract and has yet to be offered a new deal.
That has alerted Sunderland and Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce is keen on doing a surprise deal to strengthen his squad at the Stadium of Light.
Allardyce, who is on the FA shortlist to be the next England boss, has been given cash to spend to strengthen the squad.
Exclusive: West Ham slap £100m price tag on Payet
David Sullivan has slapped a £100million price tag on his prize asset Dimitri Payet.
The world-record valuation is the same as the amount that Juventus have put on Manchester United target Paul Pogba - left in the shade by Payet at the Euros.
But with prices going through the roof this summer and interest in his star man growing, West Ham’s chairman is standing his ground.
In fact, Sullivan is also prepared to give 29-year-old Payet his second massive contract in a year, worth a record £150,000-a-week, if he is still in fine form by Christmas.
Yet the Irons chairman is ready for “six weeks of silliness” with the cash already being thrown around by clubs an indication of the escalating transfer window madness.
Sullivan said: “It is the TV money. It is also clubs in Europe with Chinese money.
“But Payet is not for sale. Just because a big club wants him, tough luck. He is worth £100million. Even at his age.”
