Morata set for crunch talks

Arsenal target Alvaro Morata’s camp will meet with Real Madrid next week as they look to resolve his future.
The Juventus forward would prefer to know where he will be playing next season before heading to the European Championships with Spain, and agent Juanma Lopez will be among those in Madrid next week to find out if the Bernabeu club see a future for the 23-year-old.
Real Madrid have verbally communicated their intention to exercise their €30million (£24m) buyback clause on Morata, after selling him to the Italian giants two years ago, and are expected to lodge the official bid after discussions with the player’s representatives.
But while they are expected to immediately sell him for a significant profit, there remains a small chance that coach Zinedine Zidane decides to keep the Spanish international in Madrid.
Arsenal, both Manchester clubs and Chelsea are all interested in the striker, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

 Barcelona chase Sidnei

Barcelona have turned their attentions to Deportivo La Coruña defender Sidnei after failing in a deal to bring Marquinhos to the Nou Camp.
The double winners’ sporting director Robert Fernandez has spent months scouting central defenders that could come in to improve the club’s depth at the position afterLuis Enrique made it their number one priority for the summer.
Barca were hunting for a young central defender ready to step into the elite and originally were considering the likes of John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and Marquinhos.
All three now appear to have fallen by the wayside , however, with the Paris Saint-Germain man the final player to be scrubbed from the list.
Marquinhos ended the season atop Barcelona’s shortlist but, even after convincing the player to vocalise his desire to leave Paris, found that PSG were not willing to consider selling the defender.
Reports in France suggest Everton and Swansea are battling it out for Montpellier’s Bryan Dabo.
Dabo spent six months on loan at Blackburn in 2014 without making a senior appearance.
He has impressed for the Ligue 1 side and now L’Equipe are reporting he could be on his way back to the Premier League.
A £2m move has been touted.

Messi will return to Argentina

Lionel Messi plans to return to Argentina when his time with Barcelona is up.
The Ballon d’Or winner has been linked with a move to Manchester City in recent times to link up with Pep Guardiola.
He has previously rejected the idea and insists he will only leave Barca to head home.
I grew up here, my life is here.
Barcelona gave me everything I have, but one day I’d like to go back to Argentina.
I didn’t really get the chance to enjoy growing up in Rosario with my family.
Arsenal are weighing up a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani, according to reports in Portugal.
The Algerian striker has been linked with Leicester in recent times, while Tottenham are also thought to be keen.
But Portuguese TV station SIC Noticias claim Arsene Wenger is ready to move for the striker.
Arsenal are also keen on Alvaro Morata but may be put off by his price tag.

Koeman staying put

Ronald Koeman is set to sign a new two-year contract at Southampton – after changing agents.
The Saints boss has dumped Guido Albers, who also represents fellow Everton managerial target Frank de Boer, and replaced him with Rob Jansen.
Jansen has been in talks with the St Mary’s board to hammer out a deal whileKoeman, 53 , is on holiday in Portugal.
The Dutchman is currently scheduled to become a free agent next summer and was stalling on an extension, sparking fears he may leave at the end of his deal.
But he is now ready to commit to staying on the South Coast, with his annual pay rising from £2million to £2.5m.

Arsenal gossip round-up

Arsenal target N’Golo Kante has rejected a new contract from Leicester, according to Le Parisien.
But the Gunners will face stiff competition from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, who are alleged to be ‘desperate’ to sign him.
The France international is believed to have twice spoken to PSG’s representatives and they have another meeting planned.
But with Leicester reportedly resigned to losing their pint-sized midfielder this summer, Arsenal are likely to step up their interest.

Liverpool gossip round-up

Liverpool are leading the race for Croatian sensation Ante Coric, according to Sportske.
The Dinamo Zagreb star has impressed in their title-winning season and has been linked with a £11million move to the Premier League.
The Reds will have to battle with Tottenham for his signature, however, but Dinamo are believed to prefer selling to Liverpool - as they will not come up against them in Europe this season.
Coric, 19, is expected to be in the Croatian squad for the Euros this summer.

Man United gossip round-up

Manchester United hope that Jose Mourinho’s arrival can help lure Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, according to the Daily Star.
Ronaldo is reportedly free to leave Real Madrid if an offer comes in which matches their £80million price tag.
The Portuguese winger works with agent Jorge Mendes, the man who has orchestrated Mourinho’s move to United in recent months.
United are in dire need of a new marquee signing - but their lack of Champions League football could thwart the deal.

This one worked out alright, didn’t it?
Bale joined Tottenham as a fresh-faced teenage left-back.
He’s now one of the best players in the world.
